i am in full support of you guys. with the amount of DD's given, and to a lot of people who really deserved them but never got the attention before, im really happy to see our space art corner of dev getting some more, well deserved attention (and im not just being bias ). I really think you guys are working on taking this genre to the next level, and dong a damn good job so far. so keep it up. i know a lot of people who are behind you guys 100%. but yea, contests sounds fun too.
i really don't know about the whole matter... but somehow i have to agree with *Warflight. DA has a habit of ignoring people all the time...
last time i did emailed the appropriate people to volunteer as moderator (with the appropriate protocols) but it seems that its not going anywhere... i find it ironic that even with the help & FAQ, the upper ups in DA just don't give a damn most of the time...
so what's the point of it all?
i'm not saying all admins and mods a bad... but you are an example of what good is left here in DA and i hope you keep it that way for others as well.
hmmm dA has to deal with 9,000,000 deviants. That are a lot of opinions, wishes and thoughts. Hmmm and the volunteers spending their free-time for dA. If you got 200+ notes per day it's hard to respond to every single one (imagine a 8h work-day and some family-life).
I don't know... part of me wants to be mad at gallery moderators over the "Pin Ups" and part of me wants to be mad ad dA in general over it... dA has a definition of what is a "pin up" that is really not the definition from ANY source, dictionary, encyclopedia, or even the public... dA's definition is the only place I have EVER seen such a narrow definition... one that excludes even Betty Page from being a Pin Up model (yes, the definition would exclude the "Queen of Pin Up" as a "pin up" model)
I tried addressing this to the help desk (which really should be called "desk" because they not only didn't read the e-mail I sent, but then rubbed in the not reading it by addressing the letter as something else entirely, making me feel... well... very much ignored) and well...
I have done a lot of "pin ups" lately... the style they are in, the poses, every thing about them... and the moderator removed them from the "pin ups" because the hair style was a retro 60s style, and not a retro 40s style. It was just one of those things where, like I said, I wanted to blame the moderator of "Pin Ups" for being ignorant on what a "pin up" style is, but, I can't really, because the moderator was supporting the ignorance of dA, and their false impression, and ignorant definition of what a "Pin Up" is...
It is damn frustrating, that's for sure.
The worse part is, you can't vent to the moderator, because the moderator doesn't identify which one it is... and you can't vent to dA, because they just send you a form letter back, thanking you for your comments about opinions in the forum (where ever the hell that is)
No worries... it's just a small frustration... I've been on this site for a while, have a paid membership, and have bought paid memberships for a LOT of people, and that's so far, been the only real frustration... all and all, I'd say that's pretty good!
Oh, and for those reading this, I still want to encourage folks to gift subscriptions! If you find an artist that you really enjoy, and you want to help support them, or encourage them to do more, buy a print, or donate a subscription! It's a great way to support new artists, and support the art you love!
So far I think you've been doing a good job, however. I think some of the gallery moderators, idk who, but I know some aren't doing their jobs. I reported a lage amount of deviations from one gallery, all of them I wanted to be notified of. 50 of them I got back, they were all good. I did a good job with them. All the deviations I reported were the same too mind you. Next thing I know I am banned from reporting and when I ask the help desk why they notifiy me that I have a massive negative reporting count. So whoever was looking through those deviations I reported decided that they didn't want to work anymore on my reports and I ended up getting banned from reporting for a while because the deviations I reported were put against me. And again, they were all the exact same as the 50 or so that I got notifications back on.
So I think that w/e there was wrong, but it's in the past. It's also the reason I haven't repurchased my subscription, because I that really bugged me.
So in the end, I think that to prevent something like that from happening, you either need more gallery moderators, or, you need to look at who you have already and make sure you can trust them. Because if they are getting bogged down by all of the reports and end up doing what they did to me because they don't want to sit there for a long period of time sifting through reports, then you need more people who are in fact willing to do that very thing and sit there and do their job.
