Well I have a 24-70mm 2.8L and it's really impressive. I'd recomment it rather than the 17-55 because of the focal length and it's a red ring as well. Then again you could also get a cheap 50mm 1.8 or 50mm 1.4 like I have. They have no zoom but the quality of the image and the bokeh are surprising! They blow you away each time XD
