What do you think about deviantART the way it is today? What do you like? What bothers you?

I'm giving you one example for each based on my own opinion:
What I like: dA is still my number one place to promote my images and still helps me to grow as artist.

What I dislike: The popularity system and the large amount of "fan-kids" lately. Example: [link] <-- could be avoided by setting a limit per artist of how many images can show up among a certain number of deviations.

It has been a while...

... since my last journal. dA seems to have changed the complete journal thing a bit as my css isn't working as it was in the past. I actually don't care atm (and I bet you neither). Hmm where should I start. The last real update is from January. A lot of things happened during the last four months. I had some nice projects to be part of and I really enjoyed these opportunities. There also have been some space related projects. To name a quite cool one: a fitness studio from Australia contacted me as they were planning a dark spin room (illuminated with black-light) and they needed a 25m wide black-wide wall design which shows a moonlandscape in the foreground and some spaceaction in the background. This project is done and I am waiting for some high-quality photos

Here is a link to the layout I did: [link] <-- It actually is more a collage of already existing images as the timeframe was too short to creat a new image of this scale.

At the moment I am working on a home-theatre project which is quite cool as well. The room has very futuristic design with 3 large fictive windows that needed some content (each window 3.5x1.5m). Besides that I am working on my first movie project. I'll give you an update on that as soon as I have something to show.
GTGraphics v5 is coming soon as well (some layout changes and some new features in order to improve the overall concept). I'm really looking forward to it.

And the last gread thing for now: gtgraphics is now linked to Microsoft. 16 of our wallpaper are now available in the themes section for Windows 7 and available here [link] (or more precise here: [link] )
From our point of view this is a big step and we are really proud of it.

And on the top of this all I just got another daily deviation. I'm really thankful for all your support and feedback. You guys rock!

This is a selection of the most beautiful and unique science fiction pictures that were submitted within the last month.
We've taken our personal favourites from each of deviantart's sci-fi categories.

We are trying to find new, undiscovered artists to help them getting more attention.
But of course we cannot ignore the art of the already well known artists.

If you want to see your works in this monthly feature, you just need to create pictures that fit the topic.

Opportunities

Still alive

Hey guys,

I'm still alive

Orly? Yarly. I spent two beautiful weeks with my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to work for the DKB at the Biathlon Worldcup in Oberhof. It has been my biggest job-offer so far and it was quite a challenge for me. Nevertheless it was a lot of fun and I met a lot of awesome people and athletes.

The best thing about it: I got some new job offers there as well

On the other hand I dont have much time for personal art at the moment. I dont know when I'll be able to upload something new again. Maybe in a week, maybe in a month.

But there is moar.... I came home yesterday and found a tube on my desk. It was a dA tube

I opened it and found a print from my wishlist inside

To be more precice:

I like the German date version better than the English one... it makes more sense too (from shortest to longest time-frame). The right english version should be 2010/10/20

Deactivating my 2nd Account

Reunification

Hey guys,

it was about time. I'm going to deactivate my photo-account somewhen in the next days. The why is quite simple: I have problems to manage one account properly, so two accounts are simply too much. In adition, the photo-account has "only" 350 watchers or so and therefore it's hard to get feedback there (everything I said is in relation to my main-account).

Three years back, there weren't any collections. Everything was in one gallery and it was hard to organize your images. That is why I made the photo-account. Nowadays everything changed and it's not longer a problem.

I hope you will like my photos. I am not going to upload as many photos as on my photo-account; only the best ones.

No worries: I'm still in the field of digital art. New works are in progress and are coming soon. (one uber awesome collab with =ChrisCold for example

)

It's been a while...

...since my last journal. Are you missing the time when I was spamming journals about everything? I bet you do. Nevertheless, I finished a pic two days ago that made me very happy. I would like to thank you for all the favs and comments. At this point I also would like to welcome all my new watchers. You guys rock!!!

I also started taking photos again. I am experimenting with long exposure at day. Do you guys know a good guide or have some hints for me? Help would be very appreciated!!! As soon as there are some showable results, you'll find them on my photo account !taenaron-photo.

How are you? I hope everything is fine over there. Here, it's summer. A freakin warm one. Nevertheless I'm done with my 5th semester and have some free-time now. The result: two new pics. I actually like both of them. You seem to have a clear favourite though.

There are rules

Last point in this journal: the least important one (surprise).
I read a lot of journals in the last time. A lot of people seem to be angry about certain things on dA. You know what? Me too. It's the first time I'm talking about it in public. But to make it clear: I love this page and large parts of the community. It still is my favourite page in the web.

Now the rage-part. Please tell me, why these images are uploaded to the screenshot category: [link] & [link]

I can tell you why. Because both have been uploaded by an attention-whore. Actually, that's not the problem. The problem is that the misplacement reports were and are ignored. Please help me and report both images as misplaced deviations. It's not about alexiuss. It's a general problem here. Everybody could do it the same way as he. But then, we don't need categories at all. So: remove the categories or treat people equally.

Originally I planned to make more art after I took off my hat. Unfortunately I neither had time for photoshop nor for taking some photos. Im trying to start something new soon. The situation kinda frustrates me... but c'est la vie. Maybe it'll be better after my exams are done.

Busy

I just lost my hat and thought about how to spend the new free-time. BUT free-time is gone as fast as it appeared. Uni is taking a lot of time as well as my job. I got some cool business-contacts. We'll see how it pays off in the end.

I hope to do some art again soon. (I also have to take some photos again... I'm missing it

)
