Description

Pirate/Ship wallpaper in a fantasy landscape. A ghost ship detaches once the real ship had an accident and is about to sink. Some inspiration coming from Black Sails.

It's a pretty sweet image though some parts of it could use some work. For one the values are kind of wrong, the distant rocks are the same level of pure black as the foreground which should not be the case and throws the contrast way off, the giant rocky spires in the far distance look fantastic and the atmospheric perspective used on those areas work fine in pushing them into the distance but the middleground ones in the sea are far far too dark.
Adding some atmospheric mist or spray form the sea would help push them back a bit.

The details on the far distant mountains and rocks are brilliant and very atmospheric with the faint orange ground mist but again the middelground spires are lacking any detail at all which again is odd as they should be fairly detailed for something so close as apposed to pure black, adding some rocky features to the surface and lightening them up a bit will help and also allow the extreme foreground elements to act as the frame instead of merging into the middleground rocks.

The ghost ship is a lovely addition but maybe try making it less "perfect" more of an ethereal feel to it with blurry line, imperfect features and a more smokey feel will help make it feel more ghost like, more sharp specular highlights on the sea under the ship would also go a long way <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>

The framing of the image by way of the extreme foreground "cave entrance" is a great addition and helps focus the view, one thing to try here might be to add in more of the floating blue particles into the cave increasing in size as they appear closer to the extreme left edge of the image and of course increased lens blur, this would help guide the eye in from the left and show that those blue particles are emanating from the cave rather than appearing to be kinda lost.

Overall a good helping of atmospheric effects can really help push this image, adding more of that low ground mist into the middleground/foreground with the light sources adding a great diffused effect, especially form the ghost ships blue hues contrasted by the fire form the wreak. The mist and diffused lighting would push the ethereal feel and help push the values into their correct areas.

It's an image I can see progressing to something great with a fantastic feel but it's not quite there just yet, all the elements are there just the rocks need refinement and over atmosphere needs to be bolstered.

I'd love to see this image progress <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="31" height="19" alt=":ahoy:" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="536" title="Ahooooy Matey!"/>
