Edge of Precipice

I was standing there next to the bridge like the guy on the image and had a vision of how it will look like. So I took a photo of the bridge to have a base. Rest is done in Photoshop. Used own references for the city and an external one for the guy. I'm really happy with the outcome because I'm feeling some kind of improvement regarding my older pictures.

The story: a banned guy is looking at his former hometown planning his revenge. His outfit was inspired by Star Wars :D

Space. The final frontier. Within that frontier is a cornucopia of various renditions in both the art and media. Most futuristic landscapes and worlds are usually depicted on the edge of the boundless plane of existence known as outer space. "Edge of Precipice," is an excellent design concept depicting a possible habitat in another world.

When it comes to detail, ^taenaron almost never disappoints. The outlines and cracks in the bridge overhanging what appears to be a dark, bottomless chasm, looks well designed and its placement is great. The city in the background looks vibrant and full of life, with lights easily visible in the skyscrapers in the distance as well as the planetary body looming mysteriously in the atmosphere above the landscape. The cloaked stranger standing on the bases of the bridge ads even more personality to the entire piece. His presence could allude to a darker agenda housed somewhere within the vibrant walls of the futuristic city in the distance.

All in all, its the little things that make this an excellent piece to see. The small details and cracks placed in the vast bridge before the area, the mysterious stranger watching from afar, the detail placed in a city in the background that some would not notice at first unless they took a second glance. All in all, this is another wonderful piece made by deviantart's own ^taenaron and a great addition to anyone's favorites.

Excellent art. One thing bothers me though, which is the far join of the bridge to it's support column. With how surreal the rest of the image looks, that realistic detail (presumably from the base photo) detracts slightly (for me at least).

Aside from that niggle, I'm greatly impressed :-)

So let me get this straight... you took a picture of a bridge, did some changes to it (e.g. colour or something) then actually 'drew' the city behind, yourself, based on your experiences in a city?

well I figured it's not actually the Star Wars universe, so drones rather than clones, but you get the picture:)
