As a tribute for my most popular picture The Rise of a Planet that recently hit 6.000 favs I came up with this scene. The image is also part of The Luminarium's latest exhibition called Gaia (www.theluminarium.net). My girlfriend helped me a lot with suggestions during the work.

So, Coming fresh off of the "FrontPage" somewhat depressed by the talents of the cluster of VERY talented DeviantARTISTs on there today, i stumbled into this.
At first i thought (Being whisked into the "Sci-Fidelity" Group) Planet. Moon, Alien, Sun, UFO... Anything really. What i didn't notice until 2nd glance, was the Giraffes face poking into the eclipse behind it. Equipped with a new viewpoint, i stared at the world on the canvas before i realized it was a shrouded Savannah, and i had overlooked it.
The clouds, giraffe, Sillhouette and everything else in this picture meld together surprisingly nicely to form a single artwork. It seems a bit monochromatic at first glance, bu the many shades make up for that easily.
Hi Tobias. Sorry i've not been to see your work for a while. I thought this was an image of something in the Masai Maia Game Reserve in Kenya at first (my niece lives there nowadays and she sends me lots of pix of it). Its a lovely image my friend. Say thankyou to your girlfriend for whatever suggestions she made and, of course, for keeping you under control Carlos/CS_1T.
It looks like the sun is being eclipsed by a gas giant, rather than a moon (which I thought was your idea). Still, even if that wasn't the original idea, this looks amazingly fantastic and breathtaking
